Late Autumn Days

OUR MORNINGS ARE BECOMING COOLER, SO IT WAS NICE TO GET UP TO A WARM FIRE (SON WORKED ALL NIGHT, SO KEPT IT GOING)
I DISTURBED MITTENS SITTING IN THE SUN IN THE SPARE BEDROOM
I WENT OUTSIDE FOR MY SITTING-IN-THE-SUN EXPERIENCE.
THE FIRST OF THE DWARF SNAPDRAGONS ARE BEGINNING TO FLOWER.
I NOTICED THE BOX HEDGE IS FULL OF DELICATE THREADS OF COBWEB
AND THIS LARGE BUMBLE BEE WAS BUSY FEEDING ON THE FLOWERS
IT CAN VERY SOOTHING TO JUST SIT AND OBSERVE NATURE

  2. Nothing beats being warm, how did we manage as children, I was always cold. Do you get box blight caterpillars, here in UK, the cobwebs are their first sign as they kill your plant.

    1. I have not heard of those caterpillars so had to look them up. Apparently they are found in NZ as well. Hopefully it isn't anything that horrid - I am inclined to think it is only spiders as there are also long floating threads around the place. I will be keeping a close eye on the box now!

  3. Oh Margaret, you’re heading into my favorite time of year! A fire, kitty in the sun, fall flowers-and we have those cobwebs, too. They never seem to hurt flowers. As much as I love fresh garden produce, going toward summer here, I just hate heat and humidity - oh and the ticks - what is their purpose?! Enjoy those cooler days - they’re just perfect for observing 😊

    1. I'm with you Mary, I love autumn and also wilt badly in the heat.
I have heard about ticks, they sound awful, and am so glad we don't have them here.

  4. Your Fire Place looks so inviting Margaret- good to be warm on a Winters Day.

  5. We've used our fire once so far, it's been cold on and off but pretty mild so far although this week it's going to be getting down in temperatures.

    1. I sometimes wonder if we are in for a cold winter or not - hopefully not too cold!

  6. I would love to see those cobwebs covered in dew...but they are pretty amazing as they are. I like sitting out back and just watching the birds and bunnies and whatever else we might see.
