Vinegar and Brown Paper

I'm sure you all know the old Jack and Jill nursery rhyme - the one where they climbed a hill, fell down the hill, and then had their heads bandaged with vinegar and brown paper.
They don't use vinegar and brown paper anymore!
I had a fall yesterday and gashed my head, cut my finger, sprained muscles and gathered quite a few bruises. Thankfully, I've somehow avoided concussion to go with it all.

My deck garden

Instead of stitches, I opted for 'glue' on my head and steri-strips on my finger.  I've been told to take it easy for a few days.
I am okay today, apart from being rather sore and feeling a bit fragile, but I will be taking a few days off blogging (will read and post comments though) until I feel a bit better.

  2. Oh Margaret, I am so sorry you fell and hurt yourself quite badly. As I am still coping with my recent fall I have extra sympathy for you. You'll feel the effects for a while so be very kind to yourself. And patient.

  3. Sorry to hear you had a fall and hope you mend quickly. Take it easy for a few days as it’s quite a shock to the system. Garden is looking lovely. Someone has turned of the sun here, very dull days forecast for the next week, but I suppose it’s just November in the northern hemisphere!

  5. That sounds terrible... take care of yourself. And really relax and take it easy, sometimes the body needs a break. Like with you now.

  7. Oh- Margaret...we must be careful to avoid falls and injury- I had a large fall some weeks ago when I fell down I hit my face on the concrete path - luckily only grazed knees. Take it easy there and rest. KEV.

  13. Oh Margaret, I am so sorry to hear that. Sounds like you had a really hard fall. Hope you heal quickly and feel better soon. I turned 82 in September and worry all the time about being careless or clumsy and falling. It is so easy to fall. Your little garden looks so pretty. At least you can enjoy watching it grow while you heal. Take care of yourself.

  15. Oh gosh! That's no good. It will take a few days for you to feel 'yourself' again, won't it. Meanwhile, be especially gentle with yourself. I think I have become much less confident in the last year or two, and I know my balance isn't what is was. I see Facebook pages of smiling people telling us how to do exercises (for the geriatric!!) and I think "What a good idea" but don't do them! Sigh.

  16. oh no, not good, it seems as we get older we hurt ourselves more. I'm forever bumping into things and bruising myself.
