Paeroa Antiques

TODAY I SPENT A FEW LOVELY HOURS IN PAEROA, THE "ANTIQUE CAPITAL" OF NEW ZEALAND.

I FOUND THIS LOVELY POTPOURRI HOLDER AT 'JUNK & DISORDERLY '
LUNCH WAS A SAVOURY AND CAKE AT 'COURTYARD CAFE'
BUTCHERY SHOPS ARE A RARE FIND THESE DAYS, SO I WAS THRILLED TO DISCOVER 'BURTON'S BUTCHERY' WITH ITS FRIENDLY BUTCHER, AND CAME HOME WITH A BIG BAG OF MEAT!
OF COURSE, IT WAS MANDATORY TO STOP AND SAY HI TO THE BIG ICONIC FIZZY DRINK BOTTLE (L&P IS NOW MADE IN AUCKLAND BUT IT BEGAN IN PAEROA).
I THOUGHT THE "BUBBLES" ON THE GROUND AROUND IT WERE RATHER COOL.

IT REALLY WAS A GREAT DAY OUT.

THE YELLOW ONES MAKE ME FEEL HAPPY WHEN I SEE THEM GLISTENING IN THE SUN.
SNUGGLES KEEPS WATCH OVER MY BED EVERY DAY.
ENJOYING A SLICE OF HOMEMADE CHEESECAKE WITH TEA MADE FROM FRESH LEAVES OF CHOCOLATE-MINT.
APPRECIATE THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE.

Fruit

FRESH PINEAPPLE  - imported, but on special this week. I love it with natural unsweetened yoghurt (the stuff that's chock full of lots of gut-loving bacteria!)
MANDARINS - the first ones for the season, and they're sweet and juicy!
APPLE CRUMBLE  - stew up 4 large apples. Mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1 cup flour then rub in 2oz butter. Spread over apple. Bake 180 degC for 25 minutes.
