LUNCH WAS A SAVOURY AND CAKE AT 'COURTYARD CAFE'
BUTCHERY SHOPS ARE A RARE FIND THESE DAYS, SO I WAS THRILLED TO DISCOVER 'BURTON'S BUTCHERY' WITH ITS FRIENDLY BUTCHER, AND CAME HOME WITH A BIG BAG OF MEAT!
OF COURSE, IT WAS MANDATORY TO STOP AND SAY HI TO THE BIG ICONIC FIZZY DRINK BOTTLE (L&P IS NOW MADE IN AUCKLAND BUT IT BEGAN IN PAEROA).
I THOUGHT THE "BUBBLES" ON THE GROUND AROUND IT WERE RATHER COOL.
IT REALLY WAS A GREAT DAY OUT.
MARGARET xx
We are lucky with excellent butchers here. 2 in Tikipunga, 2 in Kamo and one in Maunu and I think there are more.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky Susan. I only know of two here in the city and both are difficult to get to (for me anyway!). I love the smell of a real butcher's shop :)
DeleteSo glad you had a wonderful day our Margaret - and yes, Paeroa is a fascinating place.
ReplyDeleteBoth Putaruru and Tokoroa have butchers shops!
Blessings
Maxine
The butchers seem to have migrated to all the smaller towns LOL
DeleteThere is a but her shop near us now. But it is on a very busy road and I wont deal with the traffic a ffic to stop.
ReplyDeleteLike you, Rose, I also avoid places with heavy traffic and difficult parking.
DeleteThat potpourri holder is anything but junk. A pretty one!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist it LOL
DeleteI would so love to go antiquing in your area! Our stores vary from one part of the country to the other. I bet yours are way different than ours!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't considered that before, but I guess they probably are different each place you go to :)
DeleteI wonder if that cake might be Carrot cake? Trust me to focus on the cake LOL.
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for guessing right! It was carrot cake and rather delicious :)
DeleteHello ! hadn't realised you had returned to blogging. Good news
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue :)
DeleteJunk and disorderly made me laugh! Antique shopping is the only kind of shopping I enjoy - not clothes shopping or even grocery shopping - but to find something that needs a home is the best. Your potpourri holder is lovely! It sounds like a great day!
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought it was quite a good name for the shop and it made me laugh too :)
DeleteYears ago a school friend moved to Te Aroha and swore to me that Lemon and Te Aroha was the original and the best. They clearly did not have a marketing guru then did they? (or an enormous bottle on the edge of town).
