First thing to do after my morning shower was to make the bed and tidy up the unit.
Then it was breakfast (apple turnover and tea) sitting out on the deck.
There was a pleasant view out over the Opotoru Inlet.
And sometimes a light plane came in to land at the nearby airstrip.
A lot of the morning was spent sitting on the deck watching the world go by, and next thing it was lunchtime! I wandered over to the nearby takeaways and bought two pieces of fish (terakihi) in a crispy golden batter, to eat beside the water.
There is a foot bridge that connects this area with the town, and for the first time in my life I got the courage to walk across it.
The only problem was, I had to walk back again LOL.
I sat beneath a tree to let my shaky legs recover - and enjoyed just watching all the activity going on around me.
Dinner was a bread roll filled with roast beef and salad - have you guessed I bought all my meals this trip? Doing so really added to the relaxed holiday feeling.
The glass of bubbles is sparkling water!
As the day ended, I made my way down to the beach (part of Whaingaroa Harbour). The sand here is black, composed of eroded volcanic material rich in iron-bearing minerals, and gets very hot underfoot on a sunny day.
I was hoping to watch the sun set below the oceanic horizon but Mt Karioi, a peninsula, and some clouds, all conspired against that idea. I wasn't too disappointed though - it still made a pretty scene, and the beach was quiet and peaceful.
I'm back home again now and loving the new carpet.
Now the fun begins, putting everything back in its place again!
Margaret xx
Glad you enjoyed your trip. You will be pleased when your furniture is back in place and you can enjoy your newly decorated house.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a relaxing stay at the beach and what a treat to come home to your carpet installed!
ReplyDeleteThat looks idyllic. I love your sunset shot. The intensity of sunlight in your daytime pics is really strong. It must have been hot. Any swimming going on?
ReplyDeleteI never went swimming but quite a few others were - and there were older children jumping off the bridge into the high tide!
DeleteThe seaside looks so good. The bridge is quite unique too
ReplyDeleteThis was a getaway I sure would have enjoyed! That last shot is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely simple holiday beside the sea. I would love that bridge but I can also understand why you don't. Bravo for being brave
ReplyDeleteI've crossed a few bridges in New Zealand which looked a deal scarier than that one!
ReplyDeleteYou stayed at such a lovely place with your own little home-away-from-home. Ideal spot for relaxing but the end had to come and now you have the fun of reorganizing your newly redone space!! GM
ReplyDeleteI think you've just described the perfect beach holiday, Margaret, in a beautiful location. Love Raglan! Have fun putting your room back together again!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day at the beach. I love your tiny house accomodation! Wish they had something like that at my local beaches.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Glad you enjoyed it. My legs had gone shaky walking that bridge too! Bought meals (treats!) are allowed on such trip. Pretty carpet.
ReplyDeleteOh that beach place looks awesome, I would have stayed a long time! Have fun putting everything back...the carpeting is very nice:)

ReplyDeleteYou'll be glad to get everything back to normal at home.
The refreshed decor looks so lovely Margaret - enjoy the re-placement of all your belongings.
ReplyDeleteThat looks to be quite a compact and enjoyable cabin you had. I must admit I love Raglan, and that looks a fabulous place to stay.
Blessings
Maxine

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful relaxed little holiday. And such a good idea to go away from the busy redoing at home.
