Last night I settled down in a comfy chair and watched The
Royal Variety Show on TV.
There is always royalty present at this Show, and this time
it was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance.
There were stand-up comics a-plenty (I’m not usually that
keen on them, but some were funny enough to make me laugh), as well as music
and other different acts.
The show ended with Ed Sheeran singing a Christmas song that
he had jointly composed with his friend Sir Elton John.
It was a relaxing way to end a hot day. Officially our temperature reached 29 degrees
Celsius, but our gauge registered a high of 31 (that is about 88 Fahrenheit).
It may not sound too hot for those who live in warmer
climes, but it is much hotter than we are used to and I simply melt in the
heat.
The next few days are forecast to be even hotter, so I am
figuring it is a good time to say I am on holiday and not attempt to do too
much!!
Be happy 😊
Margaret.
How strange to think we're both claiming the temperature is the reason for our lack of energy and maybe, speaking for myself, motivation. It's so cold even in the house I can't seem to keep my hands and feet warm. Still, it's easier to put an extra pair of socks on and a sweater than to try to get cool in the heat. Oh well, keep cool if you can, Margaret, and I'll pour a mug of hot coffee and cup my hands around it to thaw them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can manage to stay cool this summer, Margaret. Take care.
ReplyDeleteA nice comfy evening for you. I was delighted to see that our hometown girl from here in Hawaii, Keala Settle, was part of your program. Her mother is a Kiwi and maybe Keala was born in NZ too. I remember watching her play the witch in "Into the Woods" on stage at our local college and she was fabulous then.
ReplyDeleteShe is an amazing artist :)
DeleteI do hope you can keep cool. My phone says it is 27 degrees here but it feels hotter.
ReplyDeleteWe reached 30 at 4 o'clock :(
DeleteWow to the acrobats and yay for your temps! I´m freezing my but# off, yet it´s "already" 8C...
ReplyDeleteI hope this year brings a summer, last we had no real one.
I don't do well in the Summer heat either, we've had our air conditioning on most days.
ReplyDeleteIt's about this time of the winter here that it gets difficult to imagine warmth will ever happen again!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we have un-seasonally warm weather, being about 13C when it should be 5 - 7 ish, although turning back to average for the rest of the week.
Stay cool!
Oh yes - we have been close to 32oC today - and it's still hot enough for me to be very uncomfortable at 9:40 p.m., as I think the humidity has ramped up again!! A good day to stay inside and make cards...
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings
Maxine
I missed the show this year, glad you enjoyed it. It's seasonally warm here, our New Years Day was the warmest on record, it's no where near as cold as it should be, my garden is very confused as to which seasons plants should be growing.
ReplyDeleteIn my world your temp is hotter than I like, too. I just told a friend that I seem to complain about the weather no matter what. I hope you can manage to.stay cool.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this show! Probably because it's not something I would watch. The heads of the royal couple look like loaves of bread fresh from the oven! Heat is a far more difficult situation to deal with than cold. In Canada we understand cold I can assure you, but with the right clothing you can get out and enjoy it, and stay warm. Oppressive heat and humidity is impossible to escape.
ReplyDeleteThat balancing act looks amazing. Years ago when we had an apartment in France our French wasn't good enough to enjoy watching French soaps but we found a channel that seems almost entirely devoted to shows of entertainment of the circus acrobat kind - things that you could really be in awe of (and could watch in any language). We wonder how humans even think some of these things up. Mr T sends sympathies to Mittens re the 'treatment'. Mr T used to get a spot on the back of his neck on a regular basis when he was a 'free to roam' cat. F noted that the instructions on the spot medicine said don't let your cat sleep on your bed and don't let your children play with the cat for three days. If the stuff is that dashed poisonous, what is it doing to the cat? These days Mr T gets about one a year if he has been on the beach a lot and F has seen any particularly flea ridden cats roaming about the area. At least you will not be itchy Mittens. Love to all Mr T and F
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a Royal Variety Performance since the far off days days of the Sixties when it was a novelty on TV.
ReplyDeleteWe have had some scorchers here. In the hight thirties.
ReplyDeleteIt’s much cooler today and we are expecting heavy rains in the next day or two
Just means it’s going to be muggy and I hate muggy. I can’t breathe
That looks like a show I would like to watch...especially seeing Royalty there. There are no TV shows out now that I would waste my time watching. It's awful. We have had all kinds of weather today...started off warm with heavy rain and high winds...tornado warnings, thunderstorm warnings, dropping temteratures, gusting winds, sleet and blowing snow...what a miserable day. Thank goodness things have settled down now.
ReplyDeleteFun evening of TV! Happy New Year:0
ReplyDeleteLove William and Katherine....
ReplyDeleteHot New Year's. It is still so hard for me to imagine. -smile- Ding-dang cold up here.
Merry Midwinter Wishes,
Hugs,

It has been warm everywhere these past few days, hasn't it? Today it's definitely cooler, a lovely 25C with a nice cool breeze. The garden could do with some rain!
ReplyDeleteI watched the Royal Variety Performance too, but I think the Canadian version was cut back a bit. We didn't see all the performers that you did. However I did see Ed Sheeran at the end, I really like his songs. I hope Will and Kate enjoyed it!
