There is a beach access path not far from my motel unit, and I went for a long (for me!) walk along the sand this morning. This Papamoa end of the coastline is much quieter than the more popular Mount Maunganui end.
Years ago, when we lived in this area, I used to pick up one shell each time I walked along the beach - I ended up with quite a jar full.
It seems others have similar ideas, judging by the sand dollar shells hung on this fence.
I dabbled my toes in the ocean and got my feet wet. The water is still too cold for swimming, unless you are young and a bit crazy. Last night I watched some blue shivering teenagers returning from a swim, chattering happily and not seeming to mind the cold.
There are houses/baches along here that are literally built on the sand dunes. I'm not so sure about the wisdom of that.
I liked the perspective aspect of this view. The tracks were made by a large running dog.
The holiday park office sells drinks, so I treated myself to a frothy hot chocolate when I returned from my walk.
I am feeling quite content, feeling rested, and ready to return home tomorrow.
Margaret xx
it looks like an absolutely delightful, beautiful, wonderful time! I would say the words on your hot chocolate cup describe it best, breathe, relax, refresh- I hope you were able to do all that, much deserved.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice place to walk!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!!! So many memories from Papamoa. We had a Bach there in the 60s and 70s.
ReplyDeleteThe water is refreshing to look at by the beach
ReplyDeleteI would love it, not a zillion people.
ReplyDeleteLove that sand dollar fence!
ReplyDeleteThat second photo is gorgeous! You sound well rested! Yay!
ReplyDeleteYou've had a relaxing break from the renovations at home; I look forward to photos once you get back.
ReplyDeleteI think that sand dollar fence is quite amazing. GM
Sounds like your break was not only very pleasant, but also refreshing, Margaret. I love those beaches - the family sometimes have the use of a beach house in the area (not one on the dunes) and every now and again I join them, depending on what's happening.
