A Promise Of Fruit To Come

I love to wander around our property, photographing anything that takes my fancy - like these stormy clouds building up to the north-east of us.

Today I noticed how many fruiting plants were flowering.
The young grapefruit tree is blooming for the first time.

The blossom smells heavenly, just like those on the lemon tree.

The feijoa has begun to unfurl its pretty red flowers.

The thornless blackberry is covered with its pink flowers.  It really seems to like the spot where it has been planted.

Last year an unseasonable frost knocked the grape back a lot.  This year we are hoping for a bumper crop.

Of course, the companionable Mittens followed me everywhere.

Have a happy day 😊

  1. I bet the citrus smells heavenly. I didn't realize feijoas have such pretty flowers- i must be growing some of those. We were given a 15 litre bucket of lemons today😱 - i think it is going to be my job to work out what to do with them.

  10. Our feijoas haven't flowered yet but they don't fruit until winter so that's not surprising. I have some in the freezer for my sister to eat while she is over from Aussie. What do you do with yours?

  11. When I was in Gisborne recently the citrus trees there were in bloom, and the scent was heavenly... if all the flowers bear fruit, you will have a glut come harvest :) Always a good thing to have
