My favourite variety is the peppery Picual olive oil, but it can be difficult to find at times.
Which is why I was thrilled to find this online at Allpress Olive Groves on Waiheke Island (near Auckland).
The Free Fatty Acid rating shows the quality of the oil (it must be below 0.8 to be called Extra Virgin - this is 0.18).
Allpress state their locally grown olives are processed fresh without chemicals or excessive heat.
A thankyou card with my order showed a view of Verdale Grove on Waiheke Island.
I've read that including some quality fats in your diet helps to stop food cravings.
Hopefully using this oil will have that effect!

I love oils. Apart from the usual I have some Hemp Oil with my breakfast as well as Hemp hearts.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked at the price of olive oil here and I have never yet found locally (as in NZ0 produced oil. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWell, here they say some good olive oil every day will heal just about everything. Now you've found fresh you'll have to try it raw and virgin. Easier to eat on salads though
ReplyDeleteGood to see NZ is pressing its own oil now.
I eat oil and butter also to reduce cravings. Works for me
Sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter uses olive oil...and gets one infused with orange flavor. When making chocolate brownies she adds a little of it and they are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe use olive oil in many recipes and dressings. So good. Bet that’s a good one!
ReplyDeleteI have never thought of olives being grown in New Zealand. I don't know why, after all you grow grapes too!
ReplyDeleteAlways good to use locally grown products!
ReplyDeleteWe're trying to use more olive oil in our cooking. That would be wonderful if it reduced food craving!!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that New Zealand produced olive oil. It sounds very tasty. GM
ReplyDeleteIt's such a shame the price has increased so dramatically in the past couple of years. I used to buy 2 litre boxes of New Zealand olive oil and they were affordable (just!) Now the price is nearly ten times higher.
ReplyDeleteI love olive oil, and don't like using anything else - I had never heard of that type, Picual, or that company!
ReplyDeleteBlessings

The price of olive oil in this neck of the woods, has gone through the roof. Lucky you to have a local supplier.
