MADE VEGETABLE SOUP AND MAYONNAISE, CLARIFIED SOME DRIPPING,
STEWED UP SOME APPLES AND MADE APPLE SAUCE FOR THE FREEZER,
AND CHOPPED UP THIS MAGNIFICENT CELERY.
I KEEP THE OUTSIDE STALKS FOR SOUPS AND JUICING, THE INNER ONES GET USED IN SALADS AND FOR COOKING WITH, AND THE TENDER ONES AT THE HEART ARE FOR SNACKING ON.
I FELT QUITE PRODUCTIVE!

Oh my - very productive - what a busy day! And it sounds like you’re feeling better - that’s good to hear. I’ve never tried making mayonnaise - are there any tricks to doing it right?
ReplyDeleteTraditional mayonnaise always sounds so complicated so I cheat and make it in the food processor! :)
DeleteYou have been busy. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI love a morning like that - not that I get them now, but, I did a crock pot dinner for the family the other day, and it felt good to be in the kitchen earlier in the day, other than my usual 'late afternoon only' meals. I generally cook one main meal a week for the family, and as my DD sets the menu, I do what I am told :)
ReplyDeleteLove how you divide up the celery, as they usually are rather large for immediate, total, consumption.
Blessings

DeleteSort of the opposite here. I do most of the cooking - it gives me somethng to do as much as anything, and I also enjoy it. Son cooks dinner occasionally. Not sure I could cope with cooking for a family again though, as cooking for two is so much easier.
Great way to keep celery!
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge quantity of celery - I like it but rarely buy for some reason
ReplyDeleteYou certainly were productive in the kitchen. I need to do that with a head ( foot??) of celery as soon as I get it home.
ReplyDeleteFun to see what you are up to in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI love lots of celery in potato soup! And potato salad. Seeing your celery made me hungry for both.
