We've not noticed any parties around here recently, so who knows how far this has traveled.
The other strange thing we've noticed recently are these holes appearing on some of our lemons.
They are most annoying, as they let rot into the fruit.
We're not sure if they are bird pecks, slug damage, or are being caused by something else.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I've seen that or something similar on lemons here. No idea of the cause. Maybe a wasp of some sort? Such a waste if you're losing your lemons
ReplyDeleteOver here wasps will sting pears to make them rot so they can eat them - is that a possibility?
ReplyDeleteI just looked up "what paper wasps eat" as we do have those here, and apparently they can eat ripening fruit, so maybe it is them at fault.
DeleteThat would be aggravating with the lemons.
ReplyDeleteCurious about the lemons! I wonder…
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the lemons, my tree is too small right now so we haven't had that much fruit off it. As for the balloons that's exactly why I dont like them, they don't biodegrade.
ReplyDeleteDepending on just how many lemons there are you could make little mesh bags to wrap the ones that are not affected. Just a thought :)
ReplyDeleteWE MAY HAVE SOLVED THE LEMON RIDDLE - IT LOOKS LIKE THE HOLES ARE CAUSED BY THE COMMON GARDEN SNAIL! APPARENTLY THE CITRUS ORCHARDS IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating find... but a bit of a nuisance that you have to now dispose of it...
ReplyDeleteMy thought re the lemons was hail, but the 'holes' are too widely spread over the surface of the fruit - thanks for letting us know what it is!
Blessings

Why, oh why, do people continue to let balloons go, to litter the landscape and entrap wildlife? We have found them miles and miles from any humans.
