An Iron With No Steam

Several months ago, my 12 year old iron ceased to steam and I've been using it as a dry iron.
Nothing wrong with that, really, but I do miss having the steam function.
I went searching for a new iron and found some really fancy ones, but they were all so heavy to lift that I never bought one.
Recently, at a different shop, I found a lightweight Panasonic steam iron that I can lift easily.  It came home with me and has now replaced my faithful old one.

It works really well, so I am very happy with my purchase. And don't you just love the violet colour?

  3. It is a sleek, stylish iron. I had a Panasonic once that I loved. I think my daughters iron is one, too.

  4. I love your iron colour - and I'm pleased to read the heavy kind are still out there for those of us used to wielding cast iron (joke) models. Joking aside, i had until recently a couple of Shacklock solid iron 'heat on the stove' irons. They weighed 18 pounds and made great bookends. They looked like they had been cast out of a lump of railway track! In my rowing days my male friends used to challenge one another to lift these things at arms length. Laundry maids of past generstions must have been made of stern stuff.

  5. Ironing is so much easier with a steam iron. Not that iron much these days. Finding a light one, and a colourful one makes life a little more pleasant

  6. Ironing is one thing I do not miss from my working days. I don't think I have even looked at our iron for over 10 years. Happy anniversary earlier this week, hope you thought of some great memories.

  8. That is such a pretty color! I’d like to use steam, but I have well water and even though the water softener should remove most of the iron, it never removes it all. So our water will clog a steam iron or leave rust spots on fabric - oh well, I’ve just gotten used to spritzing items with a spray bottle. It would be a great convenience though - glad you found one you like!

  9. I/we do a lot of ironing, as I wear pure cotton and linen during summer and DH's shirts need ironing, so a good iron is a necessity in this house. I wait until Briscoes have a 50 or 60% sale and buy then. I try to keep a spare iron in the linen cupboard for when the old iron dies unexpectedly (if you can call dying after being dropped 'unexpected'!) I check Consumer to see what they recommend too, before I buy. I do like the colour of your new iron. My current iron is a Braun, and it's a boring black and grey.

  10. I didn't know Panasonic made irons. I love the way it looks and the color. I have the same problem as Mary above, but with our well water it is not iron. Something white like calcium forms and hardens and clogs up my steam iron. I am now buying bottled water for my new steam iron.
