My treat for today was this very decadent cream do-nut.
It was surprisingly filling, so lunch was a single small sandwich of beetroot and cheese, followed by a mandarin.
The sun broke through the clouds early afternoon.
The dark clouds stayed around, but I've been able to enjoy having some winter sunshine in my room.
I think Mittens enjoyed it too.

I have never thought of including beets in a sandwich but why not? Especially pickled beets. That would be tasty. My Mom made amazing pickled beets and I've found a way to make them as well.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful day, despite the bleak start - we didn't have fog, and I did surprise myself and spend a fruitful half hour or so in the garden this afternoon - moving compost!!
ReplyDeleteI ended up treating myself to a blueberry muffin for lunch - nice for a change, but not to be recommended as daily fare :)

ReplyDeleteBeetroot and cheese sandwich - my absolute favorite. I have been eating them for breakfast lately - beetroot is meant to be good for lowering blood pressure. (Mine is on the edge of high and I don't want medical professionals constantly nagging me about it.)

ReplyDeleteOh today's treat looks so good! A simple lunch is perfect for a winter's day...a day to settle in with a good book or movie. I always love the shadows when the seasons change. It seems like fall here has the prettiest evening shadows as the tilt of the earth changes...ideal for a snoozing cat (and me, too!)
