Have you ever woken up feeling grumpy and unsettled for no
particular reason? This happened to me
this morning and it has taken all morning to come right again. My mother used to refer to these odd times by
saying that the person had “got out of bed on the wrong side”. As a child, I could never work out exactly
what was the wrong side of the bed!
Anyway I crawled out of bed (probably on the wrong side) and
sat outside to eat my breakfast cereal and linger over a cup of tea. No sunshine but no rain either, just cloudy
and dry. I could hear birds singing and a
dog barking in the distance, and it was very peaceful.
Then it was time to go inside to roll up my sleeves, turn
up some decent music (that is, not music son likes or music grand-daughter listens to!), and tackle the mess in the kitchen.
Now the dishes are done, the rubbish has been disposed of, the fridge is cleaned out, the pantry is tidied,
and I have had a bit of fun arranging my fridge magnets. My mood has improved tremendously!
I’ve collected these magnets from my travels in the United
States (my daughter lives in Arizona) and on my recent trip to the South
Island. They make me smile when I “play”
with them as the memories they evoke are such happy ones.
Enjoy your day,
Margaret
I was always been told I must have got out of bed on the wrong side which puzzled me as the bed was against the wall!
ReplyDeleteI’ve had those type of mornings too. Sometimes I give in to it and take a day off everything!
ReplyDeleteI have those type of days....if I can find something to do and accomplish a little, it tremendously improves my mood, too. but somedays, it is not exactly on the wrong side, but an apprehensive side that is harder to dispel.
