Delighted

I ventured out yesterday by myself for the first time in almost nine weeks – and discovered that I still knew how to drive my car!

It was a pleasant trip across the city to visit my sister-in-law and I enjoyed being out and about, and seeing the autumn colour on so many trees.  Many of the leaves have begun to drop now, and there were piles heaped up in places along the sides of the roads.

I also noticed that traffic islands were covered in wild plants all busy flowering and seeding.  They must have been loving the respite from being weeded on a regular basis.

This morning I dropped grand-daughter off at school (her father usually does this, but he worked all night) and then thought I would call in at the supermarket for a few things.

I had barely got inside when I was approached by a lady who said she wanted to “share her good fortune” and dropped a $100 gift voucher into my trolley!  I was so delighted – her wonderful generosity made my day J

Hope your day is going well too,
Margaret.

  4. Wow! Not every day that someone drops a gift voucher into your hands. Especially one so large.
Did you splurge on some things that you hadn't really planned on buying?
We went grocery shopping during the first (seniors) hour. Didn't take long to find what I came for and there were very few others in the store. The one thing I bought that wasn't on my list was a red Geranium.

  6. "Her generosity made my day"
It would have made mine as well lol

I think it is surprising us all that the only thing that seems to be untouched by the dreaded virus is nature. Life goes on as usual where that is concerned!

  7. What a wonderful day you've had! I'm glad you remembered how to drive, was able to give your son a break from having to take his daughter to school, was able to visit your sister in law and see all the pretty autumn colors; the gift voucher was the cherry on the top on such a lovely day!

  8. Didn´t drive a car in three years and I refuse to in Germany/Europe.
    Australia, OK, not here.

  9. I'm glad that you had such an enjoyable day. I've had to drive 3 times to town: medical reasons. 40 miles in total in 64 days. My car averages 1200 miles a month usually. It's wondering whether I've fallen out of love with it.

  10. That is a serious gift! As to not weeding areas that have traditionally been primped, pampered and manicured, maybe it is time to stop doing it. Nature would be happy to fill the void and the tax revenues could be used for more important projects - additional funds for women's shelters, for example.

  11. Hello, the Autumn trees are lovely. I am glad you could get out and visit with your SILK and see your granddaughter. The gift voucher was such a nice surprise! It is great to see people being so kind and generous. Take care! Wishing you a happy day!

  12. Fantastic bonus!!! How wonderful.
Isn't it strange to do these everyday things again. I drove my quad bike up to the big rubbish bins the other day. Only about 10O yards but I felt the freedom of wind in my face

  13. What a wonderful generous gift! Your comment about driving the car made me smile.... I felt the same way when I got into my car after 5 weeks of not driving it. Plus it's very weird (and pleasant) to be driving on empty roads!

  14. what a beautiful day of autumn you shared with us dear Margaret! I have never drove a car and I am always just at the mercy of my sister (cousin) to drive me to places where our buses can't easily bring me to HAHA.

I feel so happy to hear about that generous lady! That is just so nice of her and so kind! She will surely be blessed a hundred fold for that kindness she shared :) Sending hugs this Friday for us on the East! (still Thursday westward from us :))

  16. What a lovely gesture to give you that voucher! I've driven a few times, mostly to pick up my 'click and collect' groceries. The first time out was totally strange - so quiet. It's lovely to just stop and admire nature too, lovely photos.

  18. The trees turning golden remind me of our cottonwood trees behind the condo. Ours are now in full leaf and are shedding their messy cottonwood seed fluff. - Margy
