Today began with lovely blue skies and I enjoyed taking my
mug of tea and sitting outside by my little vegetable plot and soaking up some
vitamin D from the sun.
I then wandered around the garden and found my first
polyanthus in bloom.
Son drew my attention to our hanging baskets. We both love the little “faces” on these
violas.
The colour on these ones was so rich that it was almost
velvety.
Being Saturday I headed inside and wrote my weekly email to
my daughter – more like a lengthy epistle than a short note, but I know she
enjoys reading them. While I was doing
this, the wind got up and in no time at all we had clouds appearing in the sky.
By the time afternoon tea rolled around the sun had almost
disappeared.
Our weather forecast is for rain all day tomorrow as well as
some wind. Hopefully Auckland and
Northland also receive some of it, as they are still struggling with drought conditions
in many places.
Cheers J
Margaret.
I enjoyed the cyber tea and walk around your fabulous garden. The sky image is G-R-E-A-T. Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the different skies - I am glad you enjoyed this one :)
DeleteWhat a lovely garden you have! Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
Hello Margaret. I haven't visited before but found you on someone else's blog. I love to find new ones that might be interesting so I am off to have a browse through some of your old posts. Love those purple pansies. Mine are just about finished and I want to put some summer bedding plants in the baskets. Please stay safe
ReplyDeleteWelcome Cherie :)
DeleteI hope you enjoyed your browsing.
I've just planted lots of violas but the strong and cold North wind is already playing havoc with them.
ReplyDeleteIt seams very strange for all your autumnal flowers to be our spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteYes, the polyanthus are very early - perhaps they decided it felt like spring! I usually have violas flowering all winter (and petunias in summer) as they grow so easily here.
DeleteIf only we could channel the rain to when and where we want it! But at least you got to sit outside before the deluge came. And those little faces need the moisture.
ReplyDeleteGlad you soaked up some sunshine before the clouds rolled in.
ReplyDeleteLove pansies and violas. Such gorgeous colours
It is good for the spirit to be able to sit outside in the glorious sun.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, may I ask what are those plants under your chairs on the first photo? I know they are vegetables but they look super pretty to me! Their color of green is very unusual! Oh and those flowers, especially that deep purples just mesmerizes me! Oh how I wish flowers like those grow here in the tropics, but I do have a single orchid that is blooming with small purple flowers at the moment! I am so excited for all the buds to open so I can share a photo :)
ReplyDeleteHope your days are beautiful and peaceful Margaret!
From left to right (in the photo), you have cauliflower, celery, spring onions and broccoli. Rather crowded but they all seem to be growing alright :)
DeleteOh my! So it's the Broccoli that really caught my attention. Those grow on our high mountains her ein the Philippines but the leaves I see attached to the florets on the market aren't as beautiful of a shade of green as those in your garden! Love it! Thank you so much for enumerating them for me :)
DeleteAmazing how fast the weather can change. Good thing you took advantage of the sunshine while it lasted.
ReplyDeleteI love pansies and yours are delightful. I can never decide whether I like the ones with faces better or the solid colours. Fortunately I can have both.
Yes I love both as well. They bring so much colour and pleasure to our winter garden :)
DeleteNice that you were able to get outside and enjoy the sun before the rains came. You have a beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteI really love all pansies...I think they are one of the most beautiful of flowers. But, there are so many, and each has its on special points. We had beautiful weather today too, an I think all next week is suppose be at least in the 60's...
ReplyDeleteGlad you have got some rain. Odd showers here - still waiting for some proper rain.
ReplyDeleteYou've shared lovely photographs.
ReplyDeleteLove the polyanthus, viola's and pansies, they look so pretty.
All the best Jan
Such pretty flowers! I love Pansies!
ReplyDeleteHello, your flowers are pretty, I am glad you got some rain too. We seem to get too much rain here.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to sit outside with your tea and enjoy your garden! Take care! Happy Sunday, have a great new week ahead.
What A Lovely Post
