"You should be careful to cut your toe-nails frequently, every week or ten days, and they should be cut square across the top, not rounded, and with sharp scissors.
Finger nails should also be cut about once a week to keep them in good order. They can be rounded to the shape of the finger to prevent the corners catching and getting torn.
Biting the nails is very bad for them."

Some advice does not change very much over the years!

I still do this. I didn't realise it came from Guiding, I always thought it was from some medical source 😄
ReplyDeleteWhen you're in you 80s with brittle nails I'm afraid that nail care is an almost daily chore.
ReplyDeletePS I love the new header photo.
ReplyDeleteI wish my fingernails would grow less fast. I always seem to need to cut at least one of them.
ReplyDeleteWhy square and not rounded? I am not very good at following that timeline. It seems like once a month for me....
ReplyDeleteToenails are cut square across so that they don't grow into the skin and become ingrown toenails, quite painful.
DeleteBeautiful tree!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Baden-Powell would think of the gel nails and all the other stuff used on nails these days?
ReplyDeleteGood advice about nails! :) The tree is lovely! Is it pink flowers or are the leaves changing colors?
ReplyDeleteIt is the leaves. They come out bright pink in spring then gradually turn to green for the summer before dropping them again in autumn.
DeleteGood advice. Unfortunately my nails suffer from gardening ( forgetting to wear my gloves) and then there's the dish washing...
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty tree!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me I need to do Roger's toe nails...seems like I cannot keep things done.
