I have watched this race on TV for many years now. Cars have altered a lot from how they used to be.
Much safer now, thankfully.
It takes around six hours for the drivers (with co-drivers) to finish the 1000km race, so I am posting this before the end!
Last year, over 200,000 spectators swarmed over the mountain to watch the cars speed past.
I'm not sure how many there are this year.
Watching the race is a great activity on a wet afternoon - or even on a sunny one!

Sounds as though you have had a wet afternoon. Unfortunately, our promised rain has not yet arrived.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound exciting! More than watching sports ( for me, anyway)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a crowd. One of those things better to watch on TV once past 40 I should think!
ReplyDeleteLooks like lovely scenery too
Yeah, it is quite a show they put on
ReplyDeleteIt is great you have something you enjoy to entertain you...a lot of family on my dads side of the family loves racing.
ReplyDeleteMy word - my bro used to live in Bathurst (very near the Mount) and for him, race week was always a good time to leave town. People who live on the Mount Panorama circuit itself make a fortune renting out their houses.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great afternoon!
ReplyDeleteLove from Titti
Our grandson loves watching the races. He started early…seven.
ReplyDeleteThis was one year we didn’t watch Bathurst. I was never into it. But hubby was. One year he even went to to the mountain. The cars have changed lots. We stay misty eyed thinking of bygone days. When it was ford vs holdens
ReplyDeleteI used to watch 'bits' with DH, who loved the race, but I did not find it so interesting.
ReplyDeleteYour screenshots brought back memories
Blessings
