I think if I was left to my own devices I could easily
become a hermit, so it is just as well I have friends who occasionally invite
me to join them for lunch.
I always enjoy it, so I’m not really sure why it takes so
much effort to be more social. Perhaps I
am getting into a bit of a rut – and that is no good at all!
Today I joined an old friend at a quiet café and we happily
passed an hour together chatting about this and that and nothing in particular.
I ordered Macaroni Cheese and it came with token salad and a
decorative drizzle of sweet sauce. It went
well with my lemon and ginger tea.
The afternoon was quiet and I had a little snooze on my bed
in the sun. It made Mittens very happy –
she loves having me in the bedroom and seems to think it is her Cat Duty to
keep an eye on me when I am there.
Lately she has been developing a new habit – if she thinks I
haven’t come to bed at a reasonable hour, she will come and butt her head
against my leg and then sit and frown at me (yes, cats can frown) until I make
a move.
How can you not love an adoring moggy?
Margaret 😊
Lovely to have a nice meal out with a friend - it looks tasty
ReplyDeleteOh yes, those moggies certainly can make us know what they think of us! Sounds like a lovely day Margaret.

Yay for friends and my, that food looks very good. And I am hungry since half an hour!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, Mittens is the cutest!
The important thing with all social interaction is reciprocation so be sure not to wait to be invited, Margaret, or you may unwittingly become a hermit!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful lunch combo. I, too, tend to stay at home most days with no apologies. Contentment is very underrated! Blessings...
ReplyDeleteZoey does something similar when she thinks we need to go to bed. She will come look at us, run to the bedroom and repeat. Eventually, she will just go to bed by herself.
ReplyDeleteYummy lunch and Mittens sounds like a very loving companion :)
ReplyDeleteDas ist so süß mit Ihrer Katze. Grüße aus Germany.
ReplyDeleteThat is a caring cat! Out for the occasional lunch is a great treat!
ReplyDeleteCats are great company, sometimes bossy but still great company!
ReplyDeleteYup we are all adorable. Xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteI am hardly social at all. Because I work in retail it makes me not want to see more people on my days off, although I did catch up with a cousin yesterday so that was nice.
ReplyDeleteMittens takes her duty (keeping an eye on you) seriously. Does Millie ever join the two of you or is she more of a loner? GM
ReplyDeleteMillie takes care of Son. They sort of divide their duties between us :)
DeleteOh yeah, it's always good to meet friends... and yes, friendships have to be nurtured... otherwise they never happen.
ReplyDeleteA hug for you.
The lunch looks very good, and it is always good to see friends. Cats are adorable:)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree...I could be a hermit as well. I like the quiet life...but you're right, I need to get out at least once in a while!
ReplyDeleteHow many times do I say to myself, "I should do that more often"? But being content with spending my time quietly at home gets in the way. Your lunch does look good!
