A Little Bit Wet

For the last 18 hours our temperature has sat at a constant 18 degrees (Celsius), and it has rained continuously for almost as long.

Millie has found the ideal way to spend a wet day and has only moved once to go and have some food.

I haven’t been snoozing but have to admit I haven’t been exactly busy either.

Last night we watched rugby again – the All Blacks against Japan (Japan played a great game but we still won) – and this morning we watched a live replay between Australia and Scotland (Australia just won that game).

Now (late afternoon), we are watching a live broadcast of T20 World Cup cricket.  Bangladesh is playing Zimbabwe in Brisbane – and their weather looks to be the total opposite of ours today!

In between the two games I sat at the table and coloured in a lot of the line drawings I have in my journal.  This book has been in use now for three years but I will finish filling it this month.

I like to make little sketches (most of them you could probably call scribbles!) with my daily notes, and colouring in some of them adds a lot of oomph to the overall appearance of the journal.

The next 24 hours are forecast to remain at a steady 16 to 18 degrees, with more rain and the threat of thunderstorms.  That translates as more humidity – ugh!

New Zealand is still under a La Nina weather pattern, causing our coastal waters to suffer a bit of a marine heatwave.  The result is a forecast of expected above-average temperatures in November – the Waikato has a 75% chance of being hotter than normal.

We’ve been through it all before, so no doubt we will survive it again 😊

Margaret.

  1. It certainly has been warm and muggy Margaret.. we have even felt it here, and we have also had some pretty heavy rain late afternoon. At least the next 10 days looks to be drier, with showers rather than rain! The cats here have also spent the day curled up inside.
    Blessings

  2. It's very mild here in UK, with similar temperatures, and it's wet as well, not our normal weather for this time of year.

  3. As long as the water doesn't get into the home you're okay.

    1. We are very fortunate that we live at the top of a hill and not at the bottom and nowhere near anything with a landslide potential. We just need to remember to close windows!

  4. Your journal drawing is delightful!
All that rain and warmth must be making your garden grow like mad

  5. I find it so interesting that sports can be so popular in one part of the world and rarely watched in other parts. Both Rugby and Cricket are rarely on any of our stations. Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey dominate the sports stations in the U.S.

  6. I'm with Milly!

Sorry about the soggy and humid weather. But as you say, you survived it before and will again. -smile-

Tonight (Sunday) will be a good (our) football game. Aron Rogers, quarterback, and the only remaining *old guy* still playing. Well Tom Brady is the oldest of the old, but he has lost his magic, or can;'t do it, with the team he has now. Anyway, Rogers still has it. -smile- So one can never count him out.

He is playing against a team, which is from our state, so you have to have some feeling for them. -smile- Nice, young quarterback. Team doing so well this year and 'hungry' for a Super Bowl Win.

Sooooooooooo!!! It will be a goooood game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You, will understand, this fun. -smile-

    Gentle hugs...

    We've had our summer evenings.

  7. I hate humidity. It’s been humid here for a bit the last two weeks. That’s rare for this late in autumn here. Hang in there!

  8. There's no escaping weather, is there? Whether we like it or not. It's the cold I really dislike although when a really hot day comes along I forget about that. Your garden must be liking all the rain!

  9. I would not call that sketch a scribble...it is wonderful.

Millie and I would get along great right now.
