Food Should Look Good

Food should be a sensual experience, something enjoyable in our lives and not just an exercise in sustenance.

Ideally, each meal should appeal to each of our senses to give maximum enjoyment.  Add some friendly companionship and a happy attitude and you have a recipe for health that is hard to beat.

For dinner tonight, we had a garden salad with steamed fresh asparagus on the side.

The salad was lettuce and comfrey leaf from our garden, topped with tomato, buffalo feta, cucumber, and hardboiled egg, then sprinkled with viola petals from the garden.  A little French Dressing and dinner was ready in 15 minutes, looked great, smelt good, and tasted delicious.  What could be easier?

Always remember what celebrity chef Paul Prudhomme said: “You don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.”

May all your meals be happy ones 😊

Margaret.

  8. After years of making and serving up meals to a big family I'm guilty of not making much of an effort to present food in a nice presentation. Although I know my DH won't even notice if I do I resolve to make an effort. Thanks for the prompt.

    1. Oh yes, I know that feeling :) Hardly finish eating one meal and you have to be thinking about the next - it certainly kills creativity. I lost all interest in cooking after hubby died and am only just getting back into it again now.

  9. What a lovely meal. It looks so attractively presented and delicious. It is definitely worth the effort, and even better to add some ingredients picked from the garden :) I haven't had asparagus yet this season, you have inspired me, thank you :) Hugs, Rose x

  12. Love your new header Margaret - I initially thought they may have been the Marakopa Falls. I also know the Waipunga falls, as I have stopped there when traveling too.
Your meal looks amazing - I am eating a lot of salads (from my potted lettuce) and asparagus at the moment. I must look for some buffalo feta...
    Stay safe
