With lots of wet weather and the Olympics in progress, it is
easy to guess what I have been doing the last few days!
Thankfully, son and I are fairly compatible with what we
enjoy watching, so there are no heated discussions about what we will watch.
My favourites so far would have to be the cycle road races
and the rugby sevens. The most boring I have
seen would have to be taekwondo – and my apologies to all those who enjoy it!
Eleven years ago, we were living at the campground at the
foot of Mt Maunganui at Tauranga (seen here in the distance), so I thought a
few memories from that time might be interesting.
We often went walking around and up and all over the Mount,
but this track was one I usually avoided.
I believe it has now slipped down the bank, so I feel my fears were
justified!
The views were always awesome.
Californian Quail used to wander through the camp and would
sometimes even come right inside the caravan to stand and look warily at us.
Looking up towards the top, from about half way up
Being winter, we were not immune to the odd storm passing
through
Nearly all the time, whatever the weather, we could watch
the surfers out in the waves
Time now to go watch the sailing 😊
Margaret.
OMG - no one could make me walk that path!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat ocean pic.
Have fun watching 😀
What a wonderful spot to live at, albeit a temporary arrangement. I do enjoy the Mount, but not the hassle of traffic getting there :) My favourite is beaches are the West Coast with the wild surf, especially in a storm.
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Oh yes, I love the West Coast wildness as well. Would never swim there though.
DeleteThe Mount is somewhere I never visited despite the time I managed to spend in NI (living and working around Rotorua). It looks like a great part of the world and that whole coastline is close to the top of my list to explore for a possible place to live when we come back home. xxx F
ReplyDeleteUsually has great weather as well. We lived there five years and loved it.
DeleteWhat a great place to live, for a while. Wonderful being so close to the beach and the Mount. Mighty photos
ReplyDeleteBy chance we saw the nzer win bronze last night. Go kiwis go
For what it is worth, I would have avoided that trail. We dont spend a lot of time on the olympics..I do love the floor exercises, the parallel bars..any if that type of stuff. I dont really enjoy swimming...but liked to watch it when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteIt amuses me to read that taekwondo is the most boring event so far. If it is boring why do you watch it?
ReplyDeleteLOL I only watched it once - now I know to avoid it!!
DeleteYou lived in paradise and so close to a big city. It looks ideal, the joys of nature and the convenience of everything one might need so close by.
ReplyDeleteSailing . . . I have a passion for that :) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLovely sea and weather photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the Olympics- how's NZ doing in the medals table?
We are way down the list LOL. One bronze so far, but a few possibilities coming up.
DeleteYou lived for five years in that wonderful spot? How big was your caravan?
ReplyDeleteIt was a 30 foot fifth-wheel - with separate bathroom with installed toilet and proper shower, separate bedroom, full size kitchen. Lots of storage, and when we settled in one place we added a permanent annex on the side. I loved it :)
DeleteThat path was just a disaster, waiting to happen!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, and lovely memories.
Have fun with the watching. We are not doing any here.
✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛✨
What a lovely place to live...I wouldn't walk on that path either!
ReplyDeleteHaving lived at the Mount for over 3 years I recognize the scenery in all your photos, I think the track around Mauao is constantly being repaired.
ReplyDelete!!!Goodness me that track!!!
ReplyDeleteYour photographs show wonderful views though.
Must admit I've not watched any of the Olympics, but hope you continue to enjoy watching.
All the best Jan
Todo se ve precioso. Un beso.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was such a place. How beautiful! Your pictures are breathtaking. I can't imagine living there and seeing it all in person.
ReplyDeleteSounds as though it was an idyllic time.
ReplyDeleteYou lived in a nice place, but I guess it was windy
ReplyDeleteNear by the sea.
