Nana Napping

Today has been one of those peaceful lazy days of summer, with blue skies and sunshine and barely any wind.  Even the neighbours were quiet!

Son and his girlfriend went off on a day excursion to the coastal town of Raglan so I had the house to myself for most of the day.

This lovely canna lily was flowering in a friend's garden

This evening I have been out watering the garden with a hand-held hose (summer water restrictions have already begun), an enjoyable way to appreciate the cooler balminess of the evening.

After lunch, I began reading The Toll Gate by Georgette Heyer, more a mystery than a romance so a bit different to her other books but still with the historical context.  However, the day was so pleasant that I ended up nodding off several times.

I decided Nana-Naps were the order of the day and gave myself up to the luxury.

We all need to treat ourselves sometimes 😊

  1. Helllo,
The canna lily is beautiful. It is nice to have some quiet and a nice nap. I will check my library for The Toll Gate! Take care, enjoy your day! I wish you all the best in 2021, a very healthy and happy New Year!

  2. Absolutely. I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself. The Italians call it "Dolce far niente" - the sweet art of doing nothing.

  3. An afternoon nap is indeed one of life's little pleasures, and most days I indulge myself. After all, siesta in many parts of the world is simply part of the daily routine! Who are we to buck the trend?

  9. That's good your day was restful. Everybody needs that. A bar in a nearby town here is called The Toll Gate.

  12. What a blissful afternoon - it was too hot here to be dozing, so I ended up colouring an image for a card, and also visiting a friend.
    Stay safe
    Blessings

  14. It sounds very good! We have "forgot" how a sunny day looks like. I think there has been only 4 days with sun in December. It has been rainy and cloudy, but no snow. It is good to be reminded about that summer will come back here too :) I wish you a happy new year!
