A Busy Morning

It rained most of the day yesterday and I never felt like doing a thing – so curled up in an armchair and read Georgette Heyer’s “A Quiet Gentleman.”   Sometimes it does wonders to have a day off doing things.

This morning has been very different.  The washing and handwashing has been done and hung out to dry – it is mostly sunny today, with a stiff westerly that should dry things well (as long as they don’t all end up wrapped around the clothesline!).

The house has been dusted and vacuumed, and the tiled floors all washed.  Surfaces in the kitchen and laundry have been scrubbed (not that that they were very dirty).  I’ve even found time to catch up on the phone with my youngest son, so am feeling like I have had a good morning.

I would like to end this post by wishing my daughter a happy wedding anniversary (today here, but our tomorrow when she celebrates in the US) – ten years together with her wonderful man.  I hope they have many more happy years together 😊

Have an awesome day everyone,

Margaret xx

Rock emits an awesome energy field that always makes me want to touch it – I think that is partly why I enjoy collecting stones around the place.

These beauties were photographed in Zion National Park, Utah, in 2010 when I was there.

  1. I hope your daughter has a happy Anniversary and many more to come. Sounds like a most productive morning - makes me feel tired.

    1. LOL Susan - you go on all those long walks that I would really struggle with!

  2. After a morning like that someone somewhere in a conversation that starts with 'so what have you been doing with yourself?', is going to say 'you can come round and do my place if you like' (or something to that effect). As if the only thing you had available to you in life was clean up after other people. I know it's a through-away response to hearing someone else has been busy and productive, but winds me up big-time. Sometimes small annoyances get all out of proportion.
Family all around the world too aye? Let's hope you do get to visit again before too long.

    1. LOL I have had people say that to me! And, yeah, like I WANT to clean their place too? I don't think so! :))

Boy, you got done a lot. I cleaned everything except the darn shower, that´s a real pain! (And the taxes)

    1. It is ok, Iris. It is my daughter's anniversary, not her wedding - she got married ten years ago.
I detest cleaning showers (it is the worst housecleaning job ever) and am so thankful that son does it now :)

  4. I have to lie down to recover from just reading about all you did!

    1. Those rocky outcrops were amazing, nothing like that in NZ.

    2. So good to know you enjoy Georgette Heyer too. I had read many of her books way back in school, and had just forgotten about her all these busy years of working and managing the home and kids. I will now again get back to reading her. Thanks for the reminder. Always nice to have a reading day.

And a very Happy Anniversary to your daughter.

  7. Oh, it's good to know someone else likes Georgette Heyer's Regency romances too...I've read them all, most of them several times. Great escape literature. Can't get into the mysteries though.
I thought those looked like Utah rocks. We drove up every summer from southern California to visit relatives in the Salt Lake area.

    1. Likewise, Ruth! I'm not keen on the mysteries but have read all her Regency romances, some several times. I have owned some of her novels for around 50 years and still enjoy them :)

  8. Great photos.

I understand taking time off. I’ve had a vicious headache for four days which finally cleared up today. It is so good to have energy to do things today after four days of nothing.

  9. A day off is a necessity, at times!!!!! And we *should* never be "afraid" to take them!!!! :-)

And you certainly accomplished much, this morning!!! Wow!!!!

Happy Anniversary to your daughter and her husband!!!!

I love it, that rock "calls to" you. You are sensitive to its energy, and that is lovely. I wonder how many natural things, are "trying to" call to us? If only we would slow down, and try to listen? We should....

    1. I am inclined to feel that if more people were more in tune with the natural world, then we would not have all the environmental problems we currently have. If only people would slow down ...

  10. I have those productive days from time to time and they are almost always followed by a super easy day.
Grandson M and I both collect rocks but only small ones.
Our trip to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, and Zion in 2007 remains one of the highlights of our RVing trips.

    1. I only collect the small ones too - the big ones I photograph :)
I loved each of those three places, as well as Capitol Reef, mostly because of their fantastic rock formations.

  11. It feels good to have a day off...and then to come back and get something accomplished the next day. I collect stones/rocks, too. And one neighbor has brought me two or three or four when they have gone on vacation. And they could not have spent $100 and bought me anything I would have liked more!

Happy anniversary to your daughter and her husband!

  12. It was my daughter's 16th anniversary yesterday too - I also had a book day this week, and then one afternoon I went slightly mad and blitzed the house - it nearly died of shock as I have been a bit slack of late.
Loving the rock formations - they are impressive!
I will be away visiting family for a few days - see you Thursday
    Stay safe
    Blessings
    Maxine

  13. I have been in Zion too, a few years ago now, and I loved being surrounded with the energy coming from those amazing rock formations. Happy Anniversary to your daughter! Well done on all the cleaning up and doing all the washing, I get spurts of energy like that once in a while, but sadly, not today!!!!

  14. What a nice post. We had rain all day yesterday and heavy clouds today. Kind of gloomy. I love getting the house all clean and the washing done. Such a good feeling. My dad was a rock collector. Dan and I are always picking up unusual rocks and bringing them inside. Your pictures are beautiful.
