By the calendar, official Spring doesn’t start for a couple
more days but Nature is not a calendar watcher.
Spring has definitely arrived here, with birds nesting and
everything putting on new growth. Even
the lawns are growing faster (ask Son, he is back to mowing them every 7-10
days!).
We are still having typical spring weather though, with cool
nights and warm days. The fire still
gets lit most nights but that probably won’t last for much longer.
My little garden gets sun all day long and everything is
thriving. I have stopped removing the
strawberry flowers to let them set fruit (I wanted the plants to grow a little
before fruiting), and they are looking great.
Today I did some much needed tidying up in the garden, planted
some lettuce seedlings, and sowed seeds for nasturtium, salad burnet, and
radishes. I now have dirt under my
fingernails!
Have a happy day 😊
Margaret.
Dirt under your fingernails is mark of honour to be worn with pride!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your spring. Seems to come early for you. We are still in mid summer Mode. High temps and overrun with visitors
ReplyDeleteYou're almost done with fires and I'm about to begin! I'm spending the day getting the barn ready for firewood delivery while you're planting seeds...it always amazes me to compare seasons. Fresh strawberries will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYes, I always find the comparison amazing too :)
DeleteYou have a long growing season ahead to be able to start before spring even begins!
ReplyDeleteI guess it is one of the benefits of a temperate maritime climate :)
DeleteThat fire look so warm and comforting. Just a few more months and we'll have one of our own!
ReplyDeleteCool nights with warm days are my absolute favourite. There's always a few weeks in Spring and again now in Fall for us and I sure appreciate having the weight of a slightly heavier blanket at night. Your blazing fire looks SO cozy.
ReplyDeleteYour strawberry plants look great. Showery with a cold wind here today.
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty strawberry plants! Happy Almost Spring to you!
ReplyDeleteWe have had the same type of weather changes here too, we noticed it felt like Spring last week and I think we've had what feels like a very mild Winter but I"m looking forward to the change of seasons.
ReplyDeleteThose strawberries are definitely looking healthy.
ReplyDeleteYour seasons and days get warmer, ours are cooling, I do love autumn, the mellow shades, the warm nights inside with a fire......
ReplyDeleteYou are just so much warmer than here - and having a raised garden also helps get an early start - your strawberries are looking very healthy. Hopefully I can get into the gardens shortly
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
It's wonderful pottering around in the garden, good luck with your strawberries.
ReplyDeleteWe are at the end of summer which has been very hot and dry... the dalias are in bloom and autumn will soon be here.
Many greetings to you. Viola
p.s. your stove is lovely :-)))
Always feels good to feel the soil in my hands...andcalways love a fire!
ReplyDeleteOh it must feel wonderful to be going from winter into spring. I just love spring! And to think we are just going into fall. Your fire looks so cozy. Makes me look forward, just a little, to winter time. Your header picture is another breathtaking one. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo, I reckon I can witness another spring and summer to help me through the dark half of the year - thank you!
ReplyDeleteFirst Day of Spring here tomorrow- it'll be great! Don't know if I can survive another Winter....your Fireplace looks so warm and inviting snuggling down for the night. Stay well Margaret. Regards. KEV. (Sydney-AUS).
