It has become a bit of a tradition that my husband’s family
gather together once a year for a happy luncheon, where we can all catch up
with each other.
Yesterday Son and I attended this luncheon at St Kilda’s Café
and Bistro in Cambridge. There were
about 24 of us altogether and it was great to meet up with them all, especially
as many of them are now into their 80s and not as mobile as they used to be.
I chose Eggs Benedict for my luncheon dish and was not
disappointed. The eggs were cooked
absolutely perfectly, the hollandaise sauce was delicious, and it was paired
with a yummy chunk of freshly smoked salmon.
The hash brown (potato) was a little much but that was easily left on my
plate (just me, I noted others ate all of theirs!).
With good food, friendly service, and a happy family, the
day turned out really well.
I hope everyone has a happy weekend 😊
Margaret.
Looks delicious. Glad you had a good family reunion.
ReplyDeleteWe like those kinds of gatherings. Will younger generations carry on their own version of it do you think?
ReplyDeleteI hope they do :)
DeleteDelicious. I would be happy with that dish. And the company. A happy family is so enjoyable
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tradition... and super you got to attend.
ReplyDeletehow do they cook eggs perfectly?????????????????????????????? -smile-

Perfectly cooked eggs: white firm and fully cooked but not hard, yolk cooked but still soft and runny :)
DeleteI do love a family reunion, I also love Eggs Benedict although my mum used to put spinach in hers and I do too, I have never looked up to see if that is what it should have so it might just be our family!
ReplyDeleteI have had the dish before, served with spinach underneath the eggs. Nice, but I am not a great fan of spinach! :)
DeleteI have never had eggs benedict! Hope you had a good visit!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you have this tradition of getting together for a luncheon and catching up with each others lives.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great family get-together. Food looks good too.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a perfect day!
ReplyDeleteThe food looks delicious...what a fun outing it must have been! Mary
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a catch up with family. St Kilda Cafe is a very nice place, I've been there many times.
ReplyDeleteThese eggs looks....yummy :) I never try this recipe, I don't know why, because I'm in the rush...almost always :)
ReplyDeleteIf late I might add - wonderful, yummy, happy post!
ReplyDeleteAs family members get older it's good to have happy occasions to catch up with each other. Otherwise we only do it at funerals. Your meal looks hum.
