Yesterday was a Good Day

We are having some lovely autumn weather at the moment.  Yesterday we reached the mid-20s (degrees C), but without the fierce heat of summer.

I spent most of the day with my brother J and his wife, catching up on things and doing a bit of family history research.  We had hot cross buns for lunch!

Easter holidays are approaching fast.  In fact, the year seems to be going by quite quickly – it will soon be winter with its dull dreary days.  Doesn’t bear thinking about.

The milk chocolate in hollow Easter eggs is something I rather enjoy, but when I looked in the supermarket they wanted $7.50 for the cheapest (hollow) one and I’m not prepared to spend that much!  Perhaps they will come on special once Easter has passed.

I captured this shot of Millie and Mittens as they sat out on our deck last evening.

Wishing everybody a happy and safe weekend,

Margaret 😊

  2. Ahhhh you are having lovely Autumn weather! And you were able to spend some, with family. How nice and normal.

    Love your kitties!

Here, we are getting teases of Spring. -smile- Warm weather coming. When we can be with others, outside, and no China/Covid worries. Long as we keep some distance. Whether our "Glorious Leader" *allows* it or not!!!!!

  3. We had lovely Spring weather yesterday ( 16*C) but today was chilly and wet. We were over at youngest son's playing Dominoes and he had a lovely blazing fire going.
$7.50 seems outrageous for any Easter egg let alone a hollow one. As you say, after Easter they'll be marked down. Have a lovely week. I hope you get lots more sunny and mid 20's temps.

  4. Mittens you look as tho the two of you have had a disagreement. Ask Margaret if she likes marshmellow eggs. They seem to be a uniquely kiwi thing and something F used to get a supply of whenever she went home. xxx Mr T

    1. LOL we did end up with a bit of a sibling spat afterwards - I won! Grandma says she finds those eggs too sweet - yet she calls me sweetie sometimes and she likes me. Human language is so hard to understand.
Kitty Kisses to you Mr T, Mittens 😻

  9. I agree, hollow chocolate Easter eggs are far too dear.... full of very expensive air! However, I have four little grandies who like chocolate, so I'll be going Easter egg shopping. Probably for chocolate bunnies.

  10. Your kittens are so cute. When I get hungry for chocolate I find brownies or baking a cake are a great budget friendly options. My life is always on a budget, LOL.

  12. I like it when I am traveling in NZ after Easter....then I can find the chocolate covered, marshmallow eggs of my childhood, now on sale by the stores cash register. Hopefully there are still some hot cross buns still getting sold then too. No visits to NZ this year though until the borders and flights are opened up again.

    1. Yes we do. We keep all the old religious holidays at the same time as the rest of the world, regardless of what the season is.

  21. Lovely lovely cutees! Glad to hear you spent some family time with your brother and his wife :) I've always wanted to at least do a little scrible of my family tree while the elders are still with us. Though I really pray they will live longer and longer with healthy bodies, but yup, I should start that project soon right!

    1. You should indeed Stevenson. There is much I wish I could now ask my elders if they were still with us. It can be a fun hobby, searching out old family scandals and so on :)
