The Days Are Going By

Oh dear, where have the days been going?  I am ashamed to say it is nearly a week since I visited Blogland.  Sorry everyone.

Today my youngest son turns 42 – why worry about the days sliding by, where did the years go????  He is in Auckland and I was going to visit him but with all of Auckland in lock-down that isn’t possible.  The same happened to us last year, but maybe next year we can get together (fingers crossed).

My Youngest, when he was still at his Cute Stage

Our hot days are slowly starting to get a cooler edge on some of them.  Autumn is coming!

Today we have extensive cloud cover with the threat of thunderstorms over the next few days.

I woke this morning to some very heavy rain.  It is so cozy to be able to snuggle back down into the bed and enjoy the sound of the rain, without worrying about leaks or flooding or having to get up and go to work.

Mittens is curled up on the chair beside me and busy snoring.  I never knew cats could snore!!

Have a happy day everyone 😊

Margaret.

  2. That pic of Mittens makes me want to take a nap right now. Your son was a cutie...I hate that you can't see him for his birthday.

  3. Love the smocking on your son's "top". Yesterday was 28° and today 27° so not cool yet here although a shower has just come over with a nice cool breeze. I love listening to rain on the roof and not having to go to work.

  4. There's nothing like the sound of rain to make a person want to stay in bed. With a skylight right over my head and all the rain we get it's a wonder I get up as early as I do (before 7).( That's mainly because I wake up so early.)
Happy Birthday to your son. Hopefully one of these fine days you'll actually be able to go and see him.

  5. Mittens - tell Margaret it's heavy breathing, a remnant of purr or something. I get accused of snoring too. F wants to know whether the birthday boy's (in the picture) shirt has smocking on it? Xxx Mr T

    1. Yes, it was smocking - but I have to confess that I never did it. I had a cousin who used to do a lot and I have tried it before. If I remember back, I actually quite enjoyed doing it :)

  7. Yes Autumn is definitely approaching rather too quickly for my likings - I have tomatoes to ripen yet!!
We too have had some heavy showers, and some thunder roiling around intermittently during the late afternoon and early evening - followed by a vivid sunset!
So sorry to hear you missed your son's birthday for the second year - I remember you missing it last year too.
Yes, I have long lived with cats and have frequently heard them snoring - some more than others :)
    Stay safe
    Blessings

  8. Childrens birthdays as they get older are always a problem! I can never believe how quickly the years have gone. My Eldest is 41 this year and the youngest 34 - How on earth did that happen as I'm sure I'm still only in my 40's myself!
    Next year WILL be better

  9. Our cat Purdy snores, he basket is next to my chair and she rattles them out most of the evening. So many family dates missed this year and last, hopefully soon it will all be in control and we get to see family and friends again.

  15. Congratulations with your son's birthday! Talking about where the years go... First I was thinking that your youngest son was the same age as my oldest son. Then I realized that was not right, he is 43, and will be 44 this year! Years fly too quickly! Our cat is snoring too!

So sorry that you were not able to see him.
Here in the UK we are still in lockdown and family visits are via the internet.
