Flowers on my Feet?

Our Dutch Iris are all coming out and looking really pretty in the garden.

Son sent me a couple of photos on his phone of his Irises, plus one of my feet in my purple slippers.  What?!!

He reckons the colour matches the flowers – so therefore I must have flowers on my feet!!  What next? LOL

Today I’ve been making grapefruit marmalade – very bitter marmalade!

Store-bought marmalade, of any kind, is far too sweet for my taste when eaten on my breakfast toast.  My marmalade is made with shredded grapefruit and lemons.

New Zealand grapefruit is a member of the citrus family, but not really a true grapefruit (it is often sold as Morrison’s Seedless, and is also known as Poorman’s Orange).  It originated in East Asia and is believed to be a hybrid between a pomelo and either a mandarin or a tangelo.

Remember, a smile a day keeps you happy 😊

Margaret.

  2. Ooohh what fabulous looking matmalade. My humans are with you on marmalade needing to have something to grab your tastebuds and wake them up. And it seems they are not alone. F uses the sour oranges that grow on our streets, and bergamots or ginger to zing it up even more and some of Mr B's clients in England insist that he bring the good marmalade back with him when he returns each Spring for work. So F spends the winter making marmalade (for export!) She's worried there are no sour oranges or bergamots in NZ to make marmalade out of when they come home. xxx Mr T

  3. Love the slippers and your sons humour. Certainly made me smile. I have a larder full of pomelo marmalade, not as popular sadly but makes a great marmalade pudding. B x

  9. I'm also very fond of marmalade and like you I find the store-bought is way too sweet. We were in a small gift shop one day and there were samples of carrot marmalade which I thought sounded weird but it tasted great. I've since made some but I'm often too lazy to bother.
Your Iris is lovely. Your slippers look very cozy.

  10. Well the colors do match and look pretty together. I love Dutch Iris! Can't imagine eating marmalade or jam that isn't sweet. It sure looks delicious.

  11. Love marmalade, any sort but made from grapefruit is my favourite. I have iris colouring my world, too, at the moment. Can't help but be happy every time I look at them. Your matching slippers give me a smile, too.

  12. I really like your slippers. I must admit I'm still wearing mine around the house, mostly because the weather is so changeable.

  13. Loveyour son's sense of humour... and the colour of your slippers :)
Hmmm, it's been years since I made marmalade - I eat very little in the way of jam type spreads now, and with just me, there's really no point in making something I won't eat :)
How are you coping with life in level 3? It must be so frustrating to know that it was 'poor choices' that caused this for you all.
    Stay safe
    Blessings

  14. Your marmalade looks so good, and beautiful color! It was interesting to learn about the New Zealand grapefruit. There is so much to learn from bloggers around the world. We went to Sweden yesterday, it is only 25 minutes from home here in Norway to a big shopping mall in Sweden. It was two years since we crossed the border last time, it as been closed because of the pandemic. I loved the connection with your slipers and the Iris :D
