A Rough Week

This last week has been a bit rough.

The mother of a friend of mine died.  It was expected, she has been ill for a long time, but I know my friend will be sad and I feel for her.

And then the 17 year old niece of a dear friend (she was also the granddaughter of another old friend) died suddenly of a brain aneurysm.  Such a tragedy when a young life is cut off so unexpectedly like this, and such a shock for all the family.

Throughout most of my adult life I have suffered from bouts of clinical depression and this week what has been building slowly over the last several months finally tipped the scales again.  So I am now back on meds, after being nearly two years without them.  I detest taking drugs, but I know they help so I take them.

We have had quite a few warm humid sticky days lately, but this coming week is meant to be dry and mostly sunny.  I am looking forward to them.

Take care,

Margaret 😊

  3. As the wife of, and mother of, pharmacists... I take necessary medicine. I know how it helps me, and appreciate the fact, that it is there, to help me. We do not push unnecessary meds, but take the necessary ones.

I have suffered from various effects of OCD, for nearly as long as I can remember. Naturally, it took years... To find what worked for me... Never cured. Just meds, which help me, to deal with OCD, myself. Sometimes easier and sometimes harder. But when I got the first one, which worked, my live began over.....

I do hope, you can try to see, how the (dreaded) meds, are really necessary, and really a wonderful thing.

Sad for you, that all these sad things, piled up, to cause you this recurring distress.

We do not have the exact same issues to deal with, but similar... In that both yours and mine, are "inside." Not like a broken arm, with is obvious, to all. And so, ours, may be more difficult...

    Gentle hugs.....

  4. I am so sorry for your loss/friends' losses...that is a lot to take in one week. I wondered if something had happened.

Yes, take the meds if they help. Of all things, I think clinical depression is the one thing we cannot control.

  5. Sorry about that, it is especially hard when a young life is taken. It is cooler here this morning. Sending hugs from the north.

  6. I'm so sorry for the loss of these two people who were loved ones of your friends. Small wonder that this tipped you over the edge into a dark place. Fortunately meds exist that can help. Be extra kind to yourself and sit out in the sunshine,do whatever helps you feel better. ((hugs))

  8. You must feel like you're being hit from all directions, Margaret. What effects our friends has an impact on us, especially when you are a caring person which you very obviously are. I hope the medication has you back to your old self soon. By the way, thanks for the tip about NYMBL. I've been doing it and think it helps.

  9. Oh Margaret, I am sorry. I hope the combination of the meds and some warm, sunny weather help for feel better. Thank goodness you're sensible enough to know when you need them. Wellington has just had the second greyest month on record, and it doesn't help the spirits, does it. We had the deaths of two elderly friends in one week a fortnight ago, and although both were both expected, and indeed welcomed by the deceased, they left me feeling low. Thinking of you. XX

  11. I am very, very, so sorry, especially ..17...
My neighbour is and hopefully only was taking Opipram (he promised to talk to his doc,and I´ll check, too, someone has to care a bit, huh).
Please.. I do not know you in person but meds made me sicker than my heart or brain could ever do.
Your Son´s rats might be a better medicine to make you smile again?
I do not want to sound arrogant. I had meds and they were very stupid and bad to my mind and from your blog I reckon yours it too "clever" (as my Hubby said) for yours, as well.
I wished someone had talked to me, so I try...
If you want an ear, I´m, here (see, I can even try a rhyme).

(flaviakaiser@gmx.de - and no, I´m not dumb, giving my address away like this, I trust machines or ... blablabla ...)
And if NOT- that´s OK!!!! It´s but an offer.

  12. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY. YOUR KIND WORDS ARE REALLY APPRECIATED, PROBABLY MORE THAN YOU REALISE.
DEPRESSION IS AN ILLNESS THAT IS OFTEN HIDDEN AWAY, YET SO MANY SUFFER FROM IT. THE MEDS REALLY HELP (AS CAN COUNSELLING), AND I AM GLAD THE ONES I AM ON NOW I HAVE HAD BEFORE AND KNOW THEY WORK FOR ME WITHOUT TOO MANY SIDE EFFECTS.
    THANKS SO MUCH FOR CARING,
    MARGARET XX

  18. Two recent Passings Over - that's hard. And words are just so inadequate. I do believe that most of us at some time will suffer depression, as life is not all a bowl of roses, and it's great that you are so level-headed about it with your meds. That's inspiring xxxxxxx

  19. Dear Sweet Margaret, it saddens me that you take on the hurt and pain of others to a place where your health is compromised. This is not good . . . I know that it is because you have a huge heart and you love your friends deeply. True love is not something that we can turn on and off. I am putting you in my prayers and in fact praying right now as I type this. I pray that you will feel God's love for you and for your friends and that He will touch each of your lives and bring you peace and comfort in Him.
    God Bless You, dear friend,
    Connie :)
